About the mrjh Orchestras
The Morton Ranch Junior High Orchestra is a place where students grow as musicians, leaders, and members of a proud performing arts community. Our program introduces students to the violin, viola, cello, and bass while building the skills, discipline, confidence, and teamwork needed for success both inside and outside the orchestra room.
MRJH Orchestra has a proud history of student achievement. Students have earned recognition at the Katy ISD First Year Orchestra Festival, received numerous Superior and Excellent ratings at Solo & Ensemble, and the program has earned many Superior ratings at Texas UIL Concert and Sight-Reading evaluations. These accomplishments reflect the dedication, preparation, and musical growth that continue to define the Maverick Orchestra tradition.
In 2026, the Morton Ranch Junior High Orchestra is continuing to grow with a renewed focus on culture, excellence, and community. Students are being challenged to rehearse with purpose, perform with pride, and take ownership of the program they are helping build. The orchestra room is becoming a place where high expectations, strong work ethic, positive energy, and student leadership work together every day.
That culture is also growing beyond campus. The Maverick Orchestra is creating meaningful connections throughout the Katy community through performances, service projects, local partnerships, and recognized community events and venues. One of the newest traditions is the annual Symphony of Toys, a community-focused event partnering with Texas Children’s Hospital to use music and generosity to make a positive impact. Through opportunities like this, students learn that orchestra is not only about performing music — it is also about serving others, representing their school with pride, and using their talents to bring people together.
Through concerts, festivals, sectionals, leadership opportunities, community events, and daily classroom work, MRJH Orchestra students learn what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves. Great orchestras are built through consistent effort, shared responsibility, and a commitment to excellence.
As part of Katy ISD’s strong fine arts tradition, the Morton Ranch Junior High Orchestra is proud to contribute to a district-wide culture that values creativity, discipline, artistic growth, and meaningful performance experiences. Our students study music from different time periods, cultures, and styles while developing the technical and artistic skills needed to become confident young musicians.
At Morton Ranch Junior High, orchestra is more than a class. It is a community, a team, and a place where students learn to perform with pride.
Come Ready. Rehearse with Purpose. Perform with Pride.
